First we would like to say how blessed we are by adding Salty to our farm. He is a unique horse that has everything we have looked for in a stallion. Salty was born on the Broken Bones Cattle Co., Ranch in Lander Wyoming. He is an own son of Hancocks Blue Boy. Salty will only produce Blue Roans, unless bred to a mare that has a modifying gene (bay, dun, dilute, gray etc...). Salty piloted the Roan Zygosity test with UC Davis in Feb 09 that is available for all quarter horse roans today. He is homozygous for the black gene also carries no agouti (Bay/Brown gene) and is homozygous for the roan gene. He has a great conformation, bone and muscle and reproduces it in his foals that have sound minds and athletic ability.
